IT departments can now monitor the impact of their organisations' supply chains on the environment with a carbon analysis tool from IBM.
資訊科技界如今可以利用IBM提供的一種碳分析工具，來監控他們組織的供應鏈對環境之衝擊。
The Carbon Tradeoff Modeler will work out the carbon footprint of each area of a business' s supply chain, from manufacturing to distribution, claimed IBM. It also said the tool will allow management to weigh up and strike a balance between cost and carbon objectives.
「碳交易模型器」將會算出一個企業的供應鏈中，從生產到配銷的各個領域之碳蹤跡，IBM聲稱。該公司並表示，這個工具將可讓管理部門進行估算，並在成本與碳（排放）目標之間取得平衡。
"To achieve a carbon efficient supply chain, companies need to assess the CO2 emissions impact of their end-to-end operations," said Sanjeev Nagrath, director of supply chain management at IBM in a statement.

According to IBM, the carbon and cost calculator will measure the difference in impact of varying package sizes and lot sizes in product transportation, as well as evaluating how consolidated orders could reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
據IBM表示，這種碳與成本的計算器將可測量出產品運輸過程中的不同包裝尺寸與批量，以及評估合併訂單如何能減少二氧化碳排放量。
